The 2024-25 season has always been a matter of Lansing’s season. Before going to Fargo, he spent 40 games with the Waterloo Blackhawks, scoring 17 points (8 goals, nine assists) and an impressive 20 points. He also served briefly with the National U18 team, and in just six games he gained valuable international experience. Since joining Fargo, Lansing has added three goals and four assists in 13 games.

Lansing’s hockey journey began with Buffalo Jr. Sabers, where he developed into a reliable player. In the 2022-23 season, he scored 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) in 16 games, and then scored 7 points (5 goals, 2 assists) in 15 games in the second year. This foundation has helped him grow into a player today and is known for his comprehensive game and a great reputation in important situations.

Although Erie Otters chose him in the eighth round of the 2023 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) priority, Lansing chose the USHL route. He has promised to attend Quinnipiac in the 2025-26 season and join the 2023 national champion Bobcats. Quinnipiac has another strong campaign this season and ended with a record of 24-12-2. However, their game ended in the Allentown Regional semifinal, where they lost 4-1 to UConn. Despite the setbacks, the program remains one of the premier units in college hockey, and Lansing’s arrival will undoubtedly strengthen their roster as they look to have another game next season.

On the international stage, Lansing represented the United States in the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, achieving an unforgettable breakthrough goal in the main victory over Germany. His outstanding performance earned him the chance to attend the U.S. Hockey Player Development Camp with levels 15, 16 and 17.

Matthew Lansing – NHL Draft Prediction

Lansing’s reliability-based game became an exciting young support. As a top center, he held a leadership role this season, proving that he is a reliable presence in all situations. His offensive zone game stands out, especially in a hurry, where he uses his strength and reach to protect the puck while fighting in stick checks. He isn’t the most gorgeous skater, but his skating is solid and he pairs it with a strong frame to carve the space and create opportunities.

What sets Lance apart is his willingness to enter the dirty areas on the ice. He is not afraid to fight for rebounds, fight through the muscles of the defender and score goals online. Also, discipline is another sign of Lansing’s game style. He cleaned and stayed in the penalty box, which stood out for a young player like him, giving him a third round shot.

“I’m very interested in Lansing, who I think is the most dangerous forward in the United States. He’s smart. His two-goal performance in the bronze medal game has involved the Americans. He’s not the strongest player, but he’s effectively playing his abilities with enough pace. Lansing plays a quick attitude in the open space. – Steven Ellis, every day against

“Matthew, who has entered his first year in the league, has shown his ability to be an influencer. We are excited to bring him here and continue his path. He is a 200-foot center who is responsible but can also attack. He is the prospect of an upcoming draft.

NHL Potential

Lansing has tools to play a valuable role in the NHL. He played a tenacious game, which made him naturally the bottom hexagon that flourished in some cases. He was eager to find space in front of the net, fight through contact and complete tough games when his team needed it most.

While his skating isn’t elite, it’s enough to complement his ability to get in and into the offensive zone by stick checking and keep possession. He is also a disciplinary player and has not received much punishment, which keeps him on the ice in key situations. His leadership skills at Fargo’s top center this season show that he understands how to play a role and adapt when needed.

I’m sure the NHL team will take his chances in this year’s draft. Over time and right, he can grow into a reliable role-player in the league.
