Joaquin Niemann is about to start thinking about our open qualifying match. It turns out that there is no need.

Niemann won 65 on Sunday at Club de Golf Chapultepec to win Mexico City Liv Golf, who now wins half of the league title so far this season.

Victory was Neman’s third place; Liv only participated in six events.

“Today, I was with them in the last group, especially in Mexico, and it was an exciting Sunday and I felt like I was very fit in the crowd,” Neiman said. “They brought me a lot of energy at the beginning of the round, attracted me, I was able to play well, do some great bunker shots, I’ve been doing a lot lately, and I feel like the short game is on the rise, and when the game isn’t so good, I can help me get better rounds and I’m still able to get very low.”

“It was special to have a short game on my back, yes, a tough day at the end. I was able to play great shots in a little bit of style and finish in 18 style with a crowd in the backstage. It was special.”

The victory also means Neiman at Oakmont U.S. Open. USGA recently created a LIV waiver, which would have ranked the top three LIV players in the league (as of May 19) otherwise not exempt. Niemann created the points lead he had locked in.

“My team asked me to register for the qualifiers and divisions, and I wasn’t really,” he said. “So I’m so grateful that I didn’t play 36 holes on Monday after the game. Yes, I’m so happy.”

Bryson DeChambeau took part in the day, with the solo lead under 13, one ahead of Cameron Smith and two ahead of Niemann. They played in the same group on Sunday, although Neman didn’t give bogey until the 14th hole. He tied for second in the under-16-year-old three matches for Lucas Herbert. DeChambeau even played the last six games in one-third of the game that day.

“The battle with Bryson and Bryson was a great fight, so I’m glad I’m in that position right now,” Neiman said.
