Like most people, Peter and Gary prefer Scottie to keep the green jacket. But this won’t be walking in the park.
Peter Costise: The Masters have made adjustments this year to allow LIV Tour qualification. I look forward to finally seeing more of the best golfers around the world compete against each other. I hope people from LIV perform well. I really think they want to justify their existence. There is still some hatred about the way they are treated by global golf. I look forward to the Royal War.
Gary McCord: This will be interesting. Can Rory finally finish it? He has been doing very well these days.
PK: He was my emotional choice because I wanted to see him win the Grand Slam. But what Rory fought was that he hit too few and faded out too many. You used to think you had to paint it near Augusta National and it might be correct on the day of persimmons, but it is no longer the case. You have to hit it and be able to control the yardage.
GM: Have you seen someone do better than Scottie Scheffler? I mean high, soft, if he had 176, then he would hit 176. If he had 210, it would be 210. It’s hard to beat on that golf course.

PK: Yes, I was surprised by this. He worked very, very hard on this aspect of the game. That’s what Jack Nicklaus does better than anyone in the Masters. He drew his own way on that golf course. He controls the yardage, and, you often have a yard or two on the greens in Augusta. If you can’t control your golf ball tightly, you shouldn’t want to wear a pin. Your putter is set by the ability to place the ball to the right of the green. Without that, you won’t

GM: It’s definitely the second golf course. Who controls the ball better these days than Schefler?
PK: No one. Just like Bernhard Langer. In his two Masters, I’m not sure he had three shots in either of them. But that’s not because of his excellent input, although he obviously performed well. This is where he takes the golf ball on the green and puts it in the right position. So he has the opportunity to become more aggressive and defensive with putters. You can call 18
Augusta’s Greens had 7 threes if they put it in the wrong place.
