Being able to find short grass consistently is a trick that comes in handy when you play tight layouts, tree-lined fairways, or a juicy second-cut class, just like the conditions players will be at the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open at Erin Hills in 2025.

With some trials, errors and a lot of gaming experience, this precision develops over time. Fortunately, you can steal some knowledge from someone who has both: two-time champion Jon Rahm.

Rahm, widely regarded as one of the best drivers in the game, shared his keys to get the court – Fairway-Finder drive – is easier than you think.

In the clip above, Rahm explains that it only takes a few subtle adjustments and game-changing moves to narrow his scatter onto the tee. Follow the setup strategy of using Rahm to dominate your tee and find fairways more often this season.

Tee low, but hit

Instead of changing the entire swing, Jon Rahm would rather rely on some simple setting adjustments with the tee height of one of them.

“So it’s going to be a slightly lower t-shirt, but I think the key here is that I’m not going to hit it, I’m still trying to hit it,” Ram said.

By shooting down the ball, one to half an inch lower than his normal driver, Ram explained that he was able to tighten the shooting dispersion without damaging his natural swing.

“The second second I tried to hit the ball, and that’s where the scattering gets bigger, with my wrist and swing, if I hit the ball, I keep my face more square.”

Bend the ball slightly down while maintaining a neutral or slightly rising attack angle, which will encourage you to lower your face slightly. This often reduces rotation and limits the curvature of the face’s exaggerated face, resulting in controlled penetrating ball flight.

Lam’s key move

While controlling his drive, Ram said he leaned on a simple but powerful tip.

“I do a key thing. I’ll pick a position here and hope the ball ends. Maybe one foot in front of the ball and aim it at it,” Ram said, “and I’ll go left.”

Why should Rahm be consistent with his goals? By opening his feet slightly, Ram explained that he created enough space to clear his body as quickly as possible with the impact while also hitting the ball. Allow him to make an aggressive swing without sacrificing control.
