Justin Rose has praised his “tenacious” British and Irish side after beating Continental 17-8 in Abu Dhabi to win the Team Cup.

Rose's side have won their first two matches 3.5-1.5 and Saturday afternoon's foursomes 4-1 to take an 11-4 lead into Sunday's singles match and need just two more wins win.

“Match play is a power play where you need to hit those key putts at the right time. The margins are always smaller than they look on the scoreboard, but I think it's a tough one for all of us. What a confident way to start the season.
