“The dream is always to serve the country” – Karen Nair
Karan Nair talks about his dream of playing international cricket for India and wants to focus on every innings. He wants to do everything he can control and doesn't want to think too far ahead.
“Our dream is always to play for the national team. So, yes, the dream is still there. That's why we are playing this game, to play for your national team. So, the only goal is to play for the national team.” PTI Karen was quoted as saying.
“I think this is my third comeback (laughs). I need to keep doing what I'm doing. In every game I play, keep scoring as long as I can. That's the most I can do matter.
“But until it (selection) happens, it is just a dream. It has not materialized yet. But, like I said, I want to focus on one innings at a time,” the Vidarbha batsman revealed.
“I'm not doing anything different” – Karun Nair
Karan Nair was also further asked about the changes he had made to improve his performance. He responded that only hard work had put him in this situation and that he had not done anything differently. He always had this belief in himself and wanted to stay positive.
“I'm not doing anything different. There's no secret. I think it's just years of hard work and persistence and, you know, a combination of all of that. Maybe you could say, treat every day like a new day and make sure I respect every inning I play,” Cullen said.
When he's not in form, he starts over again and tries again. He further talked about maintaining a positive thought process even when his bat is not in good form.
“I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. I think anyone could feel that way. But I never thought my career was going to be over. I just thought about where is it going to go? What am I doing? How could such a thing happen? Karen pointed out.
“It takes a while for you to get out of that phase and understand what's going on and what you should do. So, I told myself, I need to start from scratch again. Give myself a few years and see and then I can decide what to do. , that’s my thought process,” he explained.
