Pep Guardiola admits it is “nearly impossible” to replace Kevin de Bruyne, but says the Belgian stayed at Manchester City next season “impossible”.
De Bruyne played the penultimate game tonight in a city shirt at Etihad Stadium and scored his only goal, which put Guardiola’s side in the win over Wolves, putting them third at the table and strengthening their claims on Champions League venues.

Asked if he could stay until after the season, Guardiola told Sky Sports: “I want Kevin’s best, but that’s impossible.
“We’ve been with him for many years. He’s an incredible player, but that’s the case.”
Asked how he would replace the people who have played a role in many successes in New York City in recent years, Guardiola added: “It’s almost impossible to replace such a player, not only a performance, but what he means to his heart of fans.
“Our success belongs to a specific player, and he is one of them.
“When we beat Crystal Palace 2-0, he made a contribution against Crystal Palace and he achieved another goal. I’m so glad to finish this way, we have another game in Etihad.”

Wolves keep pushing the city
