Ranking

Benjamin Kindel is one of the most interesting prospects to offer in June. His numbers rank at the top of the WHL, but he is not one of the top news for Class 2025. Is there a reason why the skilled and high-scoring striker always ranked in the second half of the first round, or is he likely to be a steal?

In 63 games, Kindle had 34 goals and 64 assists, scoring 98 points, plus 41 points. He is the only WHL player in the draft year, scoring at least 1.50 points per game. He ranks seventh in assists (1.02) and scores per game (1.56). While production is not the only important factor to consider when evaluating a prospect, it is often an indication of its ice capacity. The players scored a lot for no reason.

In Jindell’s case, there is obviously some talent. He is a great creator, which proves that he is one of the most important assists in the WHL. He often puts his Calgary teammates in the scoring position, whether it’s running or in the offensive zone. There is no doubt that Jindell is surrounded by some great players, but he is helping to activate them. His smooth skating is enough to complement his game production, especially 5-on-5.

In addition to his offensive upside, Jindell is willing to check and help in his area. He may be small, but he participated in board battles (not half of them). He uses even strength, power and free throw kills in every aspect of the game.

Jindell’s consciousness is worth mentioning. When he doesn’t have a hockey puck, he can reach the high garbage area. In this way, he has always been a threat to the offense. Combined with defensive responsibilities, Jindell has some clever opportunities for his game.

While being listed as a center on his WHL player page, Jindell may be more suitable as a winger at the professional level. However, the possibility of becoming a center should not be completely ignored. He won a 54.25% draw this season.

Despite all his gifts, it is unlikely that Jindell is a lottery. Instead, the best option here is that he settled in the teenagers or the 20th round in the early 20th. He is a good consolation prize for any playoff team that doesn’t meet Stanley Cup wishes.

quotation marks

“Kindle brings a lot of versatility to his game. His competitiveness, strong work ethics, offensive driving force, shows great smart people, decision-making and out of the hockey position. He always follows the game and is always able to break the game or create opportunities. He works in all three areas and is differentiated every time.” – Hockey writer Peter Baracchini

“Very smart players rarely transfer. There is a little Breton’s point in Jindell. He believes that the level of the game is elite level, and at the same time in their career, their skating looks a bit awkward.” – Sam Cosentino, Sportsnet

“Kindle is a double threat offensive player. He is just as good as a shooter and a playmaker and is the driving force behind Calgary’s offense. Kindle does a great job finding open space and leveraging it, and he can unleash his shots from almost anywhere.” – Steven Ellis, daily confrontation

NHL Potential

You don’t say that often for players selected in the Kindel range, but he has room to rise to become an NHL star. If all goes well, maybe he can be the one who consistently scored 60-70 points every season and started with a nice two-way game. This may be a generous claim, but there are tricks to achieve it. There are relatively high rewards here, without great risks.
