Kraken signs Kaden Hammell to enter into entry-level contract – Hockey Writer – Kraken Prospects

On Sunday, June 1, Seattle Kraken announced that they will sign defenseman Kaden Hammell to sign an entry-level contract. Seattle signed Hammell to reach two deals in three years with an average annual value (AAV) of $908,300. June 1 is also the last day to sign him, otherwise, Aquaman will give up his rights. Seattle chose him in the fifth round of the 2023 NHL admission draft.
The 20-year-old defensive player has played in the Western Hockey League (WHL) games for the past five seasons. He started there for the Kamloops Trail Blazers in the 2020-21 season. He only participated in seven games and recorded zero points. The 2021-22 season was his first full-time WHL. Hammell participated in 57 games and recorded 14 points with 3 goals and 11 assists. He also played in 17 playoff games, where he recorded an assist. He started the 2022-23 season with the Trail Blazers, playing 36 games, scoring 5 goals and 5 assists.
In the mid-2022-23 season, Hammel was traded to Everett Silvertips. He finished the season with the remaining 31 games and recorded 16 points with 3 goals and 13 assists. Silvertips made the playoffs and Hammell played in five playoff games. He recorded zero points and scored negative 4. In the 2023-24 season, he stayed at Silvertips and won the honor of becoming a replacement captain. He participated in 52 games and recorded 25 points with 5 goals and 20 assists. He has gained the rights of Captain Silvertips with “A” as “C” in the past season. In his 59 games, he scored 10 goals and recorded 28 assists, with a total of 38 points.
Hammell has performed well in the WHL over the past few seasons, and his points have improved as his time in the league grows. He showed outstanding leadership in becoming a replacement captain before becoming an official captain next season. He will be the blue line for Kraken’s American Hockey League (AHL) team Coachella Valley Firebirds, and he will be the blue line for the NHL.
