Leeds United started recruiting before returning to the Premier League by reaching a deal with German International Lukas Nmecha.
The 26-year-old, who can operate anywhere in the top three, will officially join the West Yorkshire Club on July 1 after successfully negotiating terms in an initial two-year contract on Elland Road.

VFL Wolfsburg forward Lukas Nmecha has agreed to join Leeds United on July 1– Leeds United (@lufc) June 15, 2025
Nmecha started out in Manchester City, and before joining Wolfsburg in 2021, he enjoyed a loan spell at Preston, Middlesbrough and Andrecht.
He made 73 appearances for Bundesliga clubs in the league and cup games, scoring 19 goals.
Nmecha said joining Leeds was a “huge challenge”.
Nmecha also won seven blocks for Germany, telling LUTV: “It’s a huge challenge and I’m very happy to know the team.
“I’ve talked to the manager a lot and I’m so happy to play the football style they played in the Premier League in the championship game.
“I saw last season possession and goals were dominant. I was an offensive player, so obviously that was exciting for me.
“Of course, in the Premier League, there are some big boys out there, you can’t play like this, but I think the idea of the manager is to play good football, have football, and that’s what I used to do, what I like to do.
“I hope we can keep moving forward now, but we have a few weeks of pre-match season and we’re in all these games! But, I can’t wait to start training now.”
