Leeds signs £5million Premier League star and Meslier agent in negotiations

Leeds United held talks to sign a pound Premier League defender who represented the same as current goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

Whites enjoyed an excellent championship sport in 2024/25 and won the championship on Plymouth Argyle’s final day.

Daniel Farke’s team reached 100 points from 46 games, but that stat could be more without Meslier’s mistakes. His mistake in Sunderland’s injury, a shaky fight against Hull City, and a 6-pointer against Swansea City.

Fark gave up on the Frenchman in the final seven games, when Leeds won six of the last seven games, winning five clean sheets in the process, and Karl Darlow made it into the game.

Meslier’s future on Elland Road is considered questionable, with Leeds looking for a new first-choice goalkeeper and will offer the Frenchman to other clubs in the summer transfer window.

Leeds United are drawing a move for a star that is better than Lukas Nmecha and Mateo Joseph.

The likes of Aaron Ramsdale and Sam Johnstone have something to do with moving to Leeds to replace Meslier, but from the looks, Leeds is talking to goalkeeper’s GOL international agency about another client, Alex Moreno.

Leeds meets publicly for Aston Villa’s Alex Moreno

According to football insiders, Leeds held preliminary talks this summer to sign Aston Villa’s left-back Moreno.

The white man has been contacted via the transfer, and Villa is preparing to move the 32-year-old on a loan in Nottingham Forest on 24/25.

Espanyol made 19 appearances last season, with the new left-back being one of Elland Road’s top priorities, while the junior high school student rejoined Real Betis after his Leeds contract expired.

Villa’s Moreno is worth £5m and Spain’s club is also working to land at the left-back ahead of Leeds.

In fact, he made his debut in the 2023 match against Leeds, with the villa manager describing the defender’s speed as his best attribute.

“Moreno’s best quality is his speed. In third place on the offense, he entered the box and not only found the cross, but also passed – very good.

“Now, what we decided for him – because of the quality I know from Spain – sometimes I like to use the right back or the side of the left back. Our left back is taller with the right back because we like to be taller and more aggressive in the attack.”

The regular game time at the left back seemed to leave with Firpo on Leeds’ card, which could be an attraction to Moreno.
