Liverpool’s Kelkes edge closer to close after Bournemouth signs left-back replaces Truffert

Bournemouth signed Rennes left-back Adrien Truffert, which could pave the way for Milos Kerkez to join Liverpool.

Cherries paid the initial £11.4 million for the Belgian-born defender, who served as Rennes last season and made 212 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.

Truffert wants to continue to improve in the Premier League

The 23-year-old said on the club’s official website: “I am very happy and proud to join AFC Bournemouth. It was a great opportunity for me to continue to improve and become part of an ambitious project. From the first discussion, I felt the club’s confidence in me and I was very happy to start.

“This is the dream of any player in the Premier League. It is one of the best and most competitive leagues in the world. I look forward to testing myself at this level, facing the top players every week and helping the team achieve great things.”

Bournemouth President of Football Operations Tiago Pinto said: “We are very happy to have brought such great talents to the club so early outside the window. Adrien is a player we admire for a while and although he is still only 23 years old, he has brought a lot of experience to the team.

“We are delighted to work with Adrien and are excited to be joining us in a record season we hope to build this quality player for the club.”

kerkez is set to Liverpool switch

Truffert is a ready-made replacement for Kerkez, who had moved to Merseyside for talks for £45 million.

Hungary International started all 38 games of the Bournemouth Premier League last season, and his energy impressed him on the left.

He is a key target for Liverpool Sports Director Richard Hughes, whose previous roles have brought him to the Vitality Stadium in AZ Alkmaar.

If Kerkez does move to Anfield, Kostas Tsimikas or Andy Robertson may be sold.

Robertson has a connection with Atletico Madrid.
