The LPGA canceled the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship near Los Angeles after the event's underwriters failed to pay for the 2024 and 2025 events.

The LPGA said in a statement Friday that the cancellation was unavoidable because the underwriters failed to meet “any portion of their payment obligations.”

Nelly Korda is the defending champion at Palos Verdes Golf Club. The competition was originally scheduled to take place from March 20 to 23.

The PGA Tour said it would work with title partner Fir Hills and Hall of Fame event organizer Pak to explore other options.

“We remain committed to rescheduling this event to our schedule to honor the incredible legacy of Seri Pak,” said LPGA interim commissioner Liz Moore. A great ambassador for the sport and the event.

Park Ji-sung is a South Korean who participated in the LPGA Tour from 1996 to 2016 and won 25 tournaments, including 5 major championships. She was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2007.

The Associated Press and Live Media contributed to this report.
