La Golf launches its first driver: 4 things to know

Bryson DeChambeau co-designed La Golf’s new driver.

La Golf’s first driver negotiated the design with Bryson DeChambeau.

The company started making high-end shafts and has since branched putts, golf balls and now riders on putts, and the company is launching the La Golf Driver, the first driver ever to have a specific face for each player’s swing speed.

The driver was first teased by DeChambeau in a YouTube video earlier this year.

Here are four things to know about new LA golf drivers.

1. “Bryson’s design, your swing”

La Golf’s first driver was a long-term collaboration between Bryson DeChambeau and Chief Design Officer Jeff Meyer. DeChambeau first became a partner at La Golf in 2018, two years before he won the first championship of two U.S. Opens.

DeChambeau has been vocalizing and exhaustive for a long time – about him looking for a driver and average golfer who fits his swing speed of 130+ mph, who just want to hit the ball longer. He also suggested that adjusting the typical raised and rolling face geometry of the driver’s face might be the answer.

This seems to be exactly what he and Meyer created with the new LA golf driver.

“I’ve been on a decade-long journey to address every possible variable of my device,” DeChambeau said in a press release. “Jeff Meyer is the most creative engineer I’ve ever worked with, [LA Golf Founder and CEO] reed [Dickens] Being a proven disruptor and adventurer. This is a rare combination in the golf space, and the driving force is the result of this dynamic. ”

2. One driver, five faces

Rather than unveiling five drivers, La Golf Driver is a driver with five face selections, each offering slightly different bump and scrolling properties to optimize a specific Clubhead speed range.

“The big idea of Bryson’s curves that make the face curve proportional to the swing speed is that the side rotates almost half of the toes and heels, essentially your slice becomes a fade toe and hook it into a tie,” Dickens said.

The Los Angeles golf driver has five faces that best suit every golfer.

Each driver has only one loft tailored to the typical swing speed profile, but adjustability is ±3 degrees

The five faces are as follows:

Facial ID: 13-12 – Swing speed is below 90 mph. Loft range: 10.5 to 13.5.

Facial ID: 12-11 – Swing speed is 90 to 109 mph. Loft range: 9 to 12.

Facial ID: 10-10 – Swing speed is 110 to 124 mph. Loft range: 8 to 11.

Facial ID: 9-9 – Swing speed is 125 to 134 mph. Loft range: 6.5 to 9.5.

Facial ID: 8-7 – Swing speeds over 135 mph. Loft range: 2.5 to 5.5.

The company claims that the facial curvature of each face, known as the bulge and roll in gear space, has been carefully designed to hit the side foot 50%.

3. Quiz online to find your right fit

Although all five faces match the swing speed, La Golf realizes that not all players will fit seamlessly in every barrel.

So the company has released an online quiz of 9 questions to help select the appropriate La Golf driver’s face and even make axle suggestions.

4. No inventory shaft

Since La Golf is first and foremost an axle company, it is no surprise that the new La Golf Driver is standard on premium La Golf A-series axes.

The company has a note on the driver’s sales page, calling out other OEMs, “let you pay more than $500 for the driver and then give you $10 in mass production shafts.”

The A-Series shafts for LA Golf Driver Retail are available for $299, with other La Golf Wood Shaft products available for compensatory upscaling, including Bryson and DJ series shafts.
