Man Utd offers to sign “uncompetitive” star, he’s more deadly than Cunha

Whether United beat Tottenham to win the Europa League this week, it will be a disastrous season for the Red Devils.

Ruben Amorim’s side ranks 16th on the Premier League list and has lost 18 of 37 games so far, which illustrates the poor situation in this campaign.

The Portuguese head coach joined the club from sports earlier this season and will hope to strengthen his team in the upcoming summer transfer window to bounce back in 2025/26.

It has been reported recently that Manchester United is closing a deal to sign Wolverhampton Rangers forward Matheus Cunha to improve its offensive options.

The Brazil international appears to be joining Amorim’s side by next season, and he can provide them with the offensive qualities they lack this season as he has proven himself in the Premier League.

Crucially, the 25-year-old star has also been one of the two No. 10 players for Wolves Central forward, similar to the offensive system Amorim often plays at Manchester United. This shows that he can go directly to the team without having to learn new ways of playing.

As you can see in the table above, Cunha regularly provides quality on the last third in the Premier League this semester and creates 28 goals and “big opportunities” in 31 matches.

Meanwhile, no Manchester United players have scored more than eight goals in top-tier matches this season, suggesting that Wolves stars will add much-needed threat of goal for Amorim’s side in the 2025/26 campaign.

However, Cunha may not be the only Premier League star to join the Red Devils in the coming months, as the club is reportedly making a move for another player who has shown his talent in the department.

Manchester United bid to sign Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to a report from Spain.

The report claims that the Red Devils formally made an offer worth about £55 million to sign Cameroon International ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

That means Ineos has talks with Brentford on a deal to bring left-footed attackers to Old Trafford, although the report does not reveal whether the Bees are ready to accept the £55 million star advance.

However, it does show that United are serious about the 25-year-old attacker’s deal because they want to strengthen the offensive plan as they have made an offer for him.

Now the club must try to make a transfer on the Brentford star’s line in the next few weeks, as if United could snap up both of them, he could be amazing for Amorim with Cunha.

Why Mbeumo and Cunha perform well together

While Mbeumo is more accustomed to playing the right wing with a 4-3-3 record, rather than tenth place, as part of the two, the forward may be the exciting companion to Cunha next season.

The Brentford and Wolves stars can serve as two options for the new center guard, which will give Amorim two proven shooters to provide consistent quality at the top of the court.

As mentioned earlier, Manchester United’s Premier League top scorer Bruno Fernandes scored eight goals this season, which illustrates how much reinforcements the Portuguese boss needs, and these Portuguese need to find the back of the net regularly.

In Mbeumo, once called “unplayable” by Thomas Frank, the Red Devils will sign another proof that he can be the highest player on the court in the top English game.

The left-footed star has provided nine goals and six assists in the Premier League during the 2023/24 campaign, but he has taken his game to new heights this season.

As you can see in the picture above, Mbeumo has directly participated in 26 goals in 37 matches in the top game, and has scored more than twice as many goals as Manchester United’s highest scorer.

This shows that he will bring much-needed goals and assists to Amorim, and so does Cunha, as he has proven his quality at the top of the level.

So, two of the two options in the 2025/26 campaign are attacking midfielders or wide range of players who can find net rebounds at extraordinary speeds in the Premier League.

They are both 25 years old and have also entered a major year of their careers and may become key players in Amorim for many years to come, hoping to launch a new era of glory for the Red Devils.
