On Tuesday, March 25, the Calgary Flames hosted Seattle Cleken’s final game of the season. Despite the tight game, the Flames won 4-3. The season series ended with a draw, with each team winning twice.
Game review
The first ten minutes of the first stage, the flames attacked first. Daniil Miromanov stole the hockey as Kraken drove to the offensive zone. He threw it to Kevin Rooney near him. Rooney walks it through the neutral zone where he finds Adam Klapka. He handed it to Rooney, who filmed the blocked shooting. Klapka scored the rebound and scored his first goal of the night. The first phase ends the flame.
In the second eight minutes, the flames sat in too many men’s seats on the ice. Although Kraken couldn’t take advantage of their first powerful game opportunity, they cashed in on the second time. Andre Burakovsky has hockey in the matchup circle. He sent it to Jared McCann, who was on the other side’s standoff point. He saw Jaden Schwartz next to the net and McCann sent him a pass. He slid the puck into the back of the net, leaving only 20 seconds of extra man advantage.
With one and a half minutes left in the second stage, Claken scored again. Vince Dunn stole the puck and took it from the flames and they were breaking into the net. Dunn passes the puck through the neutral zone where he finds Tye Kartye. Karye surpassed the two flames players who tried to defend him. Karye slid online and buried it to give Kraken the lead.
Halfway through the third stage, Brandon Montour earned a double minor on Matt Coronato’s tall stick. With 55 seconds left in the power game, the flames tied up the game. Morgan Frost slid through the neutral zone and entered the flames’ offensive zone. He put the puck to Johnson Hoberdo. He took it over the ice Nazem Kadri. From the standoff point, he fired and scored.
In the four minutes of the third phase, the flames won the standoff. Coronato passed the puck to Rasmus Andersson near the board. Andersson exploded and spun it to the back of the net, making the flames the leader.
With one and a half minutes left, Kraken tied the game again. Kaapo Kakko passed the puck to Jaden Schwartz, who fired. It was saved by Dustin Wolf, but Matty Beniers picked up the rebound. Beniels’ shot was also blocked, but Jordan Eberle got the rebound. The third time was charm, as Eber’s goal came into the net. At the end of the 60th minute, tied with a score of 3-3, and the game was overtime to determine the winner.
With 1:02 left in overtime, Dunn fired a shot online but was blocked by Wolf. Coronato picked up the puck and passed it to Kadri. Kadri slid through the neutral zone until the flames’ offensive zone was unattended. He slid online and stuffed the puck behind Joey Daccord, giving the flames a victory.
Kraken will return home on Thursday, March 27 to host the Edmonton Oilers. Flames will also return to action on Thursday as they host the Dallas Stars.
