Manchester City ended the signing of Lyon’s Rayan Cherki, introducing highly rated offensive midfielder ahead of the opening deadline of the summer transfer.

The Premier League champion will pay the 21-year-old’s initial £30.45 billion, who has completed a five-year contract until 2030.

He will be eligible to open the club in the United States on June 14.

Cherki left Lyon after nearly 200 senior appearances, counting 29 goals and 45 assists. He also had two blocks for the French national team, scoring once.

“It was a dream for me,” Cherki said after completing the move. “To be honest, it’s very, very special to join a club like Manchester City and have the opportunity to take the next step in my career.”

His arrival marked the third increase in the city in a two-day period. The club confirmed the signing of Wolves’ left-back Rayan Aït-nouri on Monday, and veteran goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli joined from Chelsea earlier Tuesday.

Cherki broke into the senior team in Lyon at the age of 16 in October 2019 and has since grown into one of the outstanding creative talents of the Ligue 1.

“I’ve been working hard all my life,” he added. “I love the sport and I can’t wait to develop further in Manchester with Pep and his behind-the-scenes staff.”

“I want to embrace the responsibility of the team to continue to win. I just want to leave Lyon for a project I really believe in, and everything in New York City suggests that I can develop my own game and help the team succeed in the future.”

Cherki made his debut for France in the National League semifinals with Spain.

From the bench, he grabbed goals and assists with a 5-1 record and lost 5-4. He then started to play in third place, with France defeating Germany 2-0.
