Manchester United agreed to a deal to sign Wolves’ Matheus Cunha after activating the £62.5 million issuance clause for the Brazilian striker.
United confirmed the deal for the 26-year-old on the opening day of this summer’s transfer window, which has been adjusted to enable the club to register players ahead of the newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup, which began in the United States on June 15.
Cunha has agreed to a five-year contract and has an additional year of choice at Old Trafford and will now join the Brazilian national team in Carlo Ancelotti’s first match after medical treatment with United this weekend.

“Manchester United have reached an agreement with Wolf Hampton Wanderers to sign Matheus Cunha,” the club statement read.
“The signing of the Brazilian striker requires a visa and registration.
“Everyone at Manchester United is looking forward to welcoming Matheus to Old Trafford.”
Cunha has been a key goal for United’s head coach Ruben Amorim, who hopes to reshape the team after the club’s worst Premier League season ever, with them at No. 16.
The Brazilian, who scored 33 goals in 92 games in two and a half seasons in Molineux, appears to be the first signing of Manchester United’s first two-part transfer window this year, which originally took place from June 1 to June 10 before reopening from June 16 to September 1.
Although United didn’t compete in this summer’s Club World Cup, the newly adjusted windows are for everyone in the 20 national associations that compete with the club, with England tied to Manchester City and Chelsea.
The Premier League champion reportedly accepted a €10 million (£8.4 million) fee from Spanish clubs, allowing Trent Alexander-Arnold to leave Liverpool and leave Liverpool to release the defender from his contract.
