Arsenal closes to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga

Arsenal is reportedly completing a deal to sign Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Kepa still signed with Chelsea until next summer, and despite not showing up in Blues since 2023, he has been on a seasonal loan at Bournemouth, the 30-year-old has been impressed by Andoni Iraola’s side.

Prior to that, he had been on loan at Real Madrid, but now it is believed that Mikel Arteta is interested in bringing his fellow countrymen to the emirate permanently, according to track and field.

The media reported that the Gunners triggered the goalkeeper’s £5 million issuance clause, but if the action does come true, it could be that Kepa arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2018 for £72 million, to play the second violin, heading to the first choice of David Raya.

Kepa made 35 appearances in all Cherries last season, keeping nine clean sheets.

Iraola had previously expressed interest in keeping the players at the club, but said no final decision has been made.

“I think it’s a matter of negotiating with Kepa himself and Chelsea,” Errara said.

“I think both sides are very satisfied with his loan spell.

“I think he has performed very well, his character and experience are very valuable to us. It’s really cute to have someone with regular championship experience in a very young team.

“But we still have Neto, [Mark] Travers and [Alex] Paulsen, so we will see the decisions we make in the preseason. This position will certainly change. ”
