The injured Minnesota wilderness traveled to Newark Monday night to try to avenge the New Jersey Devils, who defeated them on Saturday. But when they won the 3-2 gunfight, the Devil beat them again. Luke Hughes scored 2 points and Jacob Markstrom stopped 27 of 29 (.931%) in his 25th win of the season. They rose to 40-29-7; the field fell to 41-29-5.
The wild defeated the Devil 6-0 earlier, but the script flipped about halfway through the first one. The Devil took control of the next 10 shots, and then Luke Hughes delivered the perfect wrist shot, giving them 1-0 improvements to the first halftime break.

In the second team, both teams played the playoff type, suffocating game, and neither side had much room. The score remained the same until third, but it has not been like this for a long time. Vinnie Hinostroza deflected Markstrom’s shot and tied it to the knot. But with the 10:48 approaching Nico Hischier passed the ball tightly to restore the Devils’ lead, his 34th time this season.
The clock ticked in Minnesota until Matt Boldy tied it to a sweet backhand, only two minutes away. The Devil secured the puck behind the net in the last 30 seconds, and was happy to mention this and hopefully more.
Paul Cotter won in overtime…or everyone thinks. The devil is about to leave the ice and has celebrated, announcing that it is reviewing its offset layer. And, after a moment, the game will start a gunfight.
He reappeared when Cotter scored and started the gunfight. Markstrom stopped Mats Zuccarello, Jesper Bratt scored, and Markstrom stopped Boldy to win.
The wild will travel on Wednesday against the New York Rangers (EDT 7:00 pm) and the Devil will also face the Rangers at the Prudential Center on Saturday afternoon (12:30 pm ET).
