Monday in Quail Valley, Mother Nature helped us determine who real Want to win this 2025 PGA championship. His name is Hideki Matsuyama, and he will not let the bulging rain affect his main preparation.
Severe storm hits PGA Champion Host Course
The first day of PGA Champion Week did not go as planned. The downpour made practice games and preparations all day on the racing field, but instead forced most fans and players to pack and leave.
And it won’t stop anytime soon. A quick look at the weather forecast for the PGA Championship in Charlotte this week shows that the game should be calm during the game. But before that, there is more rainfall.
Tuesday, May 13, a severe thunderstorm may be seen hitting the quail hollow. Shower is expected again on Wednesday.
So if you are a professional who is passionate about getting as much practice as possible, you have no choice but to fight the elements.
This is exactly what Matsuyama did on Monday.

While most players are not found at the beginning of the downpour at the beginning of day one, the PGA Tour Pro Austin Eckroat happens to be taking the course.
In the process, he happens to the practice of green and the wild scenes that are unfolding.
2021 Master Champion Matsuyama is in part of the flood, and in heavy rain, doing some exercises casually, as if it was a wonderful day.
Two members of Matsuyama’s team helped him generously, one of whom raised an umbrella to his head as he placed it. Eckroat took a quick video of the moment with Instagram on the title, “This guy wants it @hideki.matsuyama_official.” Check it out below.
The umbrella may be unnecessary because the rain was too heavy and all three men were soaked. But Masu Mountain continues to roll the rocks.
Matsuyama has performed well so far this season. He won the season opening event in Hawaii. He also collected seven top 25 top 25, with only two layoffs in 11 games in 2025. Matsuyama finished T21 after enjoying Ribeye at Scottie Scheffler’s Masters Champers Championship Dinner at last month’s Masters Championship.
Now, Matsuyama will try to win his second major title of his career at Rainy Quail Hollow. And we know he will be prepared at least with anyone else in the field.
