PGA Tour rookie Max Greyserman is having a proud first season in 2024.
During an appearance on GOLF's Supbar Podcast, Glaserman explained to co-hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz how a wrist injury nearly derailed his promising future in professional golf.
“So I'm No. 37 [in the Official World Golf Ranking] Now, that's a great place and it looks like I'm going to Augusta and it's crazy to think about where I was a year ago or even two years ago when I had wrist surgery in 2022 and I really didn't know that I “Whether I'm going to continue playing professionally or not,” Greiserman said, “right now I'm just living the dream and maybe going to Augusta National, so it's crazy where life can take you.”
When Knost asked Greserman how close he was to retirement, the new career man revealed that after surgery, he explored other potential paths his life could take, visiting his brother-in-law's real estate office to learn about the industry , and talked about his life.
“I was thinking maybe I could hang out with them and enjoy life in a different way,” Greiserman explained.
Finally, Glaserman realized his professional golf career wasn't over.
“I just decided that my golf story wasn't over yet, and one day I woke up and said, 'Go back to work, get this thing off your wrist, and go back to work,'” Greiserman said. “As soon as I got back to the Korn Ferry Tour the year after surgery, I just hit the ground running and never looked back and ended up finishing ninth and then my rookie year. So thank you very much.
Interestingly, the pro revealed that it was his exploration of other careers that ultimately brought him back to golf.
“I feel like the wrist surgery gave me some perspective because it showed me what life would be like if I didn't play golf, and I think I'm happy with that, and I'm actually happy with that… ..I agree with Plan BI, which gives me the opportunity to pursue Plan A, which is professional golf.
