Mikheyev & Nazar leads the Blackhawks to beat the Penguins 3-1 – Hockey Writer – Chicago Blackhawks

Ilya Mikheyev’s two-goal effort, a short goal from Frank Nazar, and Spencer Knight’s 28-win performance helped the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 on Sunday, April 6.
The game was not scored until the 18:55 mark in the second phase, when the Blackhawks rookie center Nazar scored his ninth goal of the season, giving Chicago a 1-0 lead.
Midway through the third stage, Mikheyev scored his 19th goal to score a 2-0 win, with Connor Bedard recording his 40th assist of the season.
Five minutes later, Penguin forward Rickard Rakell scored in a power play, limiting the deficit to one goal this season with 34 goals.

The Penguins would push within a few minutes of the game, but Mikheyev beat the second goal of the game in 56 seconds to get the Blackhawks 3-1 win.
Alex Nedeljkovic, who has been playing his first game since March 27, stopped 28 shots in a failed effort.
The Blackhawks are now 22-45-10 with 54 points and finally the Central Division, second in the Western Conference and the league as a whole. Entering Sunday’s game, Chicago lost five and 12 of 13 straight games.

As for the Penguins, they are now ranked seventh in the Metropolitan Division with 74 points and second in the Eastern Conference. Pittsburgh has now lost five of its last seven games.
Both teams will face again in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, April 8. Afterward, the Blackhawks headed to Massachusetts on April 10 to face the Boston Bruins, and then hosted the Winnipeg Jets on April 12. Meanwhile, the Penguins return to the road to face the New Jersey Devils and then host the Bruins.
