Nathan Mackinnon of Colorado Avalanche becomes No. 100, hitting the 1,000-point milestone – Hockey Writer – Colorado Avalanche

Colorado’s Avalanche beat Denver’s Chicago Blackhawks 3-0 on Monday night, but it was a personal milestone and made headlines for an avalanche player. This may be most of the game, but Artturi Lehkonen in the third stage beat Nathan Mackinnon’s 27th goal of the season.

McKinnon’s assist was his 1,000th NHL point – a game after his 100th point against the Toronto Maple Leafs this season. Mackinnon reached 1,000 points, became the 100th player and the 10th active player to join the club.

Mackinnon joins Sidney Crosby (1,664), Alexander Ovechkin (1,600), Evgeni Malkin (1,338), Patrick Kane (1,324) (1,324), Anze Kopitar (1,262), Steven Stamkos (1,178), Claude Giroux (1,178) (1,178) (1,106) (1,106) McDavid (1,064) is the only active player with 1,000 points.

Mackinnon added another feeding Martin Necas to his 22nd goal of the season less than three minutes after his 1,000th career points, giving Mackinnon a career 1,001 points – only to win the 99th place in the NHL all-time roster.

Now he is second on the Avalanche franchise list, behind Joe Sakic (1,015), and he is second when you add Nordiques’ franchise list. As for his draft season, McKinnon was the only player to reach 1,000 points in the 2013 NHL draft, and Alexander Bakov (771) ranked second in that draft class.

This season, McKinnon scored 102 points in just 65 games, an average of 1.57 points per game. As for his career, he averaged 1.17 points per game and 1,001 points per game in 856 regular season games. Based on his season average, Mackinnon could end the season with 1,029 pro points, which would put him tied with Brian Leeetch for the NHL’s 90th all-time roster.
