Viktor Hovland arrived at the 2025 Valspar Championships in the Copperhead course at Innisbrook Resort Lost.
The 2023 FedEx Cup champion has ruled three times in a row as he tries to rediscover the swing, which put him at the top of the official golf rankings in the world golf.
Hofland found something in Cooperhead course this week. While the Norwegian star still felt uncomfortable with his swing, he found himself tied for the lead with Jacob Bridgeman and Nico Echavarria.
Looking for his first win since the 2023 Tour Championship, Hovland hopes that the swingman he’s been working on feels good to get him across the finish line on Sunday.
“I mean it’s fun to be in the scramble, but when you’re uncomfortable with the ball, the stress is more. “But, it’s fun to see some putts in, and still see the ball ending up near the hole and getting some good results there.”
Hofland has been in the wilderness for some time. He only had two top ten last year and did not make it to the top 20 this season.
However, the Cooperhead course performed well for Hovland while still trying to find the old Viktor Hovland.
“It’s golf, it’s a crazy game,” Hofland said. I do think this kind of golf course is really for me right now. This is not to say you have to bomb drivers everywhere, but rather a positioned golf course. I do feel like I can really hit some nice iron shots because I haven’t been waving my stats for a few weeks like mine in the past few weeks, so I can swing like I did for weeks.
Justin Thomas grabbed and passed Hovland after nine Sundays. But Hovland Birds 14, 16 and 17 regained the lead, while Thomas staggered in the snake pit, giving the Norwegian a seventh PGA Tour victory.
