With Newcastle United looking to solve their goalkeeper problem, a new option has reportedly become one of the most surprising moves to watch the summer.
Newcastle goalkeeper problem
Newcastle’s interest in James Trafford has been a fairly open secret since last summer. The report even suggested that Burnley Shooters had reached an agreement with Hippies. However, a year later, Burnley is back in the Premier League, and it remains to be seen whether the England international will complete the long-awaited move.
If it weren’t for Trafford, it would be a big question whether Newcastle would turn its attention elsewhere. Currently No. 1 Nick Pope has had more injuries in the 2024/25 match, and neither he nor Martin Dubravka are young, Eddie Howe can certainly do it with fresh faces this summer.

For those at St James’Park, the numbers are not a pretty photo – the fact that the Pope missed 10 Premier League games should have the alarm bells around Tyneside. Champions League football is balanced with domestic action next season, and the last thing Howe needs is that he was injured again in his first season and missed a long game.
On the PSR issue, PIF should have the money to spend this time and should spend a lot of money on a lot of upgrades between sticks. If there are any reports to pay for recently, then Xipies might be shocked in this regard.
Fraser Forster is “a person who follows”
According to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, Fraser Forster is now “focusing” as Newcastle hopes to sign another goalkeeper. If he arrives, the shooter will likely replace Odysseas Vlachodimos, while the former Nottingham Forest Man is among the players who may make a appearance at St James’ Park this summer.
Even if Vlachodimos leaves, signing for Forster will remain a surprising move for Newcastle. Their current goalkeeper is already an aging person and has added 37-year-olds, which hardly alleviates the problem – especially those reportedly making £75,000 a week.
The Tottenham goalkeeper is still a man who praised Angel Posescoglou in December, but the Australian told reporters after Forster’s mistake against Liverpool: “He was disappointed, too, because he was outstanding to us. [before]. Until then, he didn’t have much to do. Even in the first half, I thought his feet were really good. ”
Although Forster is an experienced player, it is clear that Newcastle needs not only his arrival to solve the shooting problem this summer.
