“We believe in Villa Park”

Unai Emery insists that his Aston Villa side remains faithful despite his 3-1 win over PSG in the Champions League quarterfinals in Paris on Wednesday.

Morgan Rogers took a surprise lead in the raucous Parc des Princes after 35 minutes, but the lofty goals of Doues Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nuno Mendes made the Ligue 1 title comeback.

The result means that if they want to enter the last four elite club games in Europe, Emery’s team took on a huge task in the second leg.

But the villa owner believes his team has the ability to cause upset at Villa Park next week.

“More or less my expectations within 90 minutes [tonight] It happened. ” Emory admitted.

“As a result, there may not be much difference between 2-1 and 3-1, as we will be playing at home next week. This is still a huge challenge for us, but our support can feel strong at home.

“We know we need clinical before the game and it’s clinical in the first half. It’s not in the second half.

“The race is the first stop. Of course, the results are not good for us, but it can be a positive thing to be able to gain momentum and use our own strength at home.

“We believe in our support, we believe in Villa Park. We believe players can deliver the best performance next week.”

Rodgers responded to his manager’s point of view, adding that the players have nothing to lose.

“We have another leg to try to twist it, we’re going to fight for everything and win the tie, and eventually, we’re going to see where it takes us,” Rogers said.

“We don’t want to come here [Paris] Just the audience. We want to play and try to play, and I feel like we did for most of the work. Obviously, the scoring line isn’t very good, but we have another game we’ll try to turn it around.

“We have quality in our locker room. We’re here for a reason. We want to fight, we want to try and win, and ultimately we have enough quality to cause problems for any team in the world.

“We have nothing to lose. No one lets us win the draw in the first place, so why not do that. That’s my mindset, that’s the mindset of all of us and our managers.

“We just have to keep working hard and always believe we can do it and see where it takes us. We definitely have quality to solve this problem, so it’s not done yet.”

Villa welcomed PSG to Villa Park on Tuesday night and kicked off at 20:00 in the UK.
