Rory McIlroy is the second time in his outstanding career to be a player champion. However, in order to win, the Northern Ireland had to beat JJ Spaun in the playoffs. TPC Sawgrass was whipped most of his time. These gusts were kicked to a notch in Monday’s playoffs.

Of two playoff contenders Monday morning, McIlroy proved better at dealing with the wind. This can be partly attributed to how he prepares for the playoffs before the round.
Rory’s Unorthodox Scope Preparation
One of the benefits of ending Monday is that the course is basically empty. Of course, there are a few fans and other support staff, but the reason is like a ghost town compared to Sunday’s final round.
The emptiness extends to practical facilities. In preparation for combating the elements, McIlroy takes advantage of his scope.
Without other players, caddies and support staff, McIlroy decided to gain some creativity through his warm-up routine. Knowing that the wind will come from different directions in the course, he decided to simulate these situations by hitting the ball all Different directions.
“It’s hard to get two winds when you warm up,” McIlroy said. “It’s great to see no one this morning to turn around and hit those shots that I think will come.”
Smart preparations seem to have paid off as the 35-year-old professional playoff dominance in the playoffs. Now, he can call himself a two-time player champion.
