New York Islanders are not in a hurry to name new GM

Mike McIntyre of Winnipeg Free Press: Winnipeg Jets’ salary cap space on the transaction deadline, they did not take advantage of. A space worth about $6 million.
They used nearly $15 million in 20-man lineup on Sunday, down from the $88.5 million regular season cap. Saturday’s AVS roster was about $95 million.
The Jets don’t have any LTIR candidates at the deadline, but in case of injury, they do have room to take advantage of their strengths. Forwards Gabriel Vilardi and Nikolaj Ehlers are still out. They can use some rating help in the wing and second-line centers. Center Vladislav Namestnikov made no sense in four games.

Jet GM Kevin Cheveldayoff tried to take some other moves for what reason. Maybe their bid is high, or a player is unwilling to give up on going to Winnipeg.
