Nick Dunlap became the first player to win as an amateur and professional in the same season and was named the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year for the 2024 season.
The 20-year-old American won the Arnold Award, beating Max Greyserman, Jake Knapp and Matthieu Pavon with 57% of the members' votes. Palmer Award.
“Nick has a place in the PGA Tour record books,” PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said in a news conference Thursday. “To start 2024 as a college golfer and end it with two PGA Tour wins and being ranked among the top 50 players in the FedEx Cup is truly impressive.”
In January, Dunlap won the American Express in La Quinta, Calif., becoming the first amateur to win a PGA Tour event since Phil Mickelson in 1991.
Four days after the victory, Dunlap announced he would turn pro and capped his breakout season by winning the Barracuda Championship at the Tahoe Mountain Club in July.
Dunlap then qualified for his first FedExCup Playoffs and advanced to the second of three events. He finished 49th in the FedEx Cup and qualified for the 2025 PGA Tour signature event with a top-50 finish.
