
The Chicago Blackhawks have hired Jared Nightingale As head coach of Rockford Icehogs, a member of the team’s American Hockey League.
Nightingale returns to Rockford’s bench, previously served as an assistant coach for Icehogs in 2021-24.
Assistant coach Rob Klinkhammer and Josh MacNevin Will stay in the club.
Nightingale, 42, recently served as head coach of the hockey action and director of hockey action for the ECHL South Carolina Yellow Stars for the 2024-25 sports. He scored a 52-15-5 record in one season with the team and won John Brophy’s Coach of the Year Award as the Stingray ended with the best regular season record in the league.
While working as an assistant at Rockford, the Nightingale helped the club achieve 111 wins and three appearances in the Calder Cup playoffs. He also served as an assistant to the Ontario Hockey League, the U.S. National Team Development Program and the U.S. Hockey League’s Omaha’s Flint and Saginaw.
Nightingale is a Jackson, Michigan native, and has been a defenseman for 11 professional seasons, including 472 games with Springfield, Iowa, Chicago, Hartford/Connecticut, Syracuse, Rockford, Grand Rapids, Milwaukee, Milwaukee and Norfolk.
