Mahendra Singh Dhoni Chennai Super Kings have retained him as an uncapped player ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League mega auction. “I'm not as fit as I used to be and I need to put a lot of effort into what I eat now and I'm doing very specific things to adapt to cricket. We are not fast bowlers so our demands are not that strong,” Dhoni told Eurogrips said the Tires YouTube channel.
“What really helps me is doing a lot of exercise in between eating and going to the gym. So whenever I have time, I like to do a lot of different sports, maybe tennis, badminton, football, it keeps me focused. That’s the best way to get into fitness,” he added.
CSK endured a forgettable campaign in IPL 2024 as the defending champions failed to make it to the playoffs under their new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. They were defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last league match, which ended in a virtual knockout match.
