Nuno Espirito Santo prepares for the five-time final as Nottingham Forest pushes the Champions League

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo described the closing ceremony of the Premier League season as the career definition of his team, with the club pushing for unprecedented positions in the Champions League next season.

Currently in sixth place, Forest still firmly ends the top five, who is enough to qualify for next season.

Their positive results to be achieved in Thursday’s match against Brentford could bring them back to one of the qualifying spots with just four games left.

“All games are the biggest games of our careers, and that’s how we do it,” Nuno said.

“For many teams in this battle, all the games will be very, very important. We have a game to try to perform well.

“We went back to the city ground in front of our fans and it was a big help.

“Whatever happens, we never stop believing. We have good moments and bad moments throughout the game and we have been able to react and it’s up to us to decide to react again.”

Forest is a club with many European Cups in European history and has never been in the best matches on the mainland since the 1980-81 season.

Their focus is now fully in the league after being knocked out of the FA Cup in the semi-finals at Manchester City.

Despite the pressure, Nuno insists that his team is focused on one game at a time starting from Brentford.

“We’re just thinking about Brentford right now, and that’s the only thing we have to think about now is competing with them,” he said.

“This is in our hands, and it’s a big advantage.”
