Ongoing negotiations for the Rangers to leave Ibrox are underway

Players are training preseason with the Glasgow Rangers before next month’s Champions League qualifier.

The light blues are preparing for their bipedal tie for less than a month as they hope to move into the next stage of the qualifiers and bring regular top-of-the-line continental football to Ibrox.

Martin has a lot of work to do on the coach’s court to make sure the Rangers players know their role and how to play their system effectively, but he also has a lot of work to do in the summer transfer window.

For example, Cyriel Dessers may leave Glasgow before the window ends, as Aek Athens has been struggling to sign him and Feyenoord.

Now, whether the Nigerian international will still be on the run at Ibrox by the start of their Champions League qualifiers remains to be seen.

However, he may not be the only star to continue moving forward from the Scottish Premier League giant this summer, as Nicolas Raskin is also associated with the export.

Why Losing Nicolas Raskin is a blow to the Rangers

After the performance of Light Blues in the 2024/25 season, the Belgian International has attracted a lot of interest because many Premier League teams reportedly are keen to sign him.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa and Leeds United are reportedly focusing on former standard Leeds talent, with a value of £25m on Scotland.

Raskin joined one of these three teams this summer, and despite the money involved in a deal, it was a big blow to Martin due to the quality he would lose from XI.

In the 2024/25 season, the Belgian midfielder showed off GERS’s performance in the middle of the park, which was particularly impressive.

As you can see in the table above, Raskin is both a scorer and a threat to his target creator, indicating that Martin will lose a quality operator at the top of the court.

However, because of his contribution to the team’s offense this season, the Rangers may lose another player who is bigger than the midfield star.

European team hopes to sign Rangers star

According to reports on the mainland, Ligue 1 Side Lille is now “hopeful” to sign Moroccan International Hamza Igamane agreement from the Rangers before the summer transfer window ends.

Journalists claimed that negotiations were underway between the two clubs to reach an agreement on transfer fees as France appeared to be close to Gers center.

Tavolieri added that the 22-year-old had reached a personal clause with Lille and now had an oral agreement, suggesting that the only obstacle left is the transfer fee.

The Igamane is reportedly estimated at about £15 million, and it remains to be seen whether France is willing to pay so much for multifunctional attackers.

Tavolieri’s latest update shows that Lille is confident that he can reach a deal as they want the terms of the transfer to the striker, and losing the striker will be bigger than Martin Martin.

Why Losing an Iguana is a big blow to Rangers

If Igamane will permanently move to Lille this summer, then the light blue will lose the most effective terminator and shooter ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The Moroccan star enjoyed a great first season in Glasgow, scoring 16 goals in 46 matches in all the Scottish Giants and showing off his quality before scoring.

Dessers finished the Premier League season with 18 goals in the 19.4 XG, ending the Premier League season with 18 goals, showing that he wasted opportunities in front of goals, which is the quality of his chance.

Igamane has made only 23 appearances in the club’s 33 league appearances, providing the finisher with higher quality and the opportunities he gets in the Premier League offer more opportunities.

Ruskin’s fee was reported to be £25 million, and Igamane’s £15 million also shows that Rangers won’t get as much value from the selling price compared to midfielders.

Therefore, selling the Moroccan striker will be a bigger loss for GERS, as they will get a £10m loss for players who offer more game-changing quality in the last two thirds and he has more time to further improve his progress.

That’s why Martin should hope that Lille will fail to reach a deal with the club in the next few days and weeks, as Iga-Marne may be a key player next season.
