As Fitzgerald said at the press conference “Whether we are bringing back trade participants, we are not going to go back to the same group.”

Busy summer for the devil

The Devils have several unrestricted free agents this summer, including Jake Allen, Nathan Bastian, Justin Dowling, Curtis Lazar, Tomas Tatar, Brian Dumoulin, Daniel Sprong and Dennis Cholowski. Additionally, the Devil has three restricted free agents, including Luke Hughes, Nolan Foot and Cody Glass.

Fitzgerald brings Dumoulin back: “Never say forever”

Speaking of Jake Allen, Tom Fitzgerald noted that he will talk to his agent this summer about Allen’s future with the team. He wanted to bring him back.

Additionally, the devil hopes to expand Jacob Markstrom, who is eligible to sign the extension on July 1 as he has a year left in the deal. Markstrom loves to play in New Jersey. It would be interesting to see the length of the contract and the dollar they promised.

Plus, what will Luke Hughes’ next trade look like, can the Devil decide to open up hat space from players like Dawson Mercer to improve their scoring in the top six?
