Panthers beat the Oilers 6-1 in Game 3 to lead the 2-1 series – Hockey Writer – Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers won Game 3 (and therefore, the series) in a win back to Sunrise against the Edmonton Oilers, naming the final series of the Stanley Cup final 2-1. AJ Greer returns to the Panthers’ roster; Jesper Boqvist sits down and releases a place for him. For the Oilers, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins put it into the lineup as a decision on game time.
Phase 1
The Panthers hit quickly as they returned to sunrise. Black Panther legend Brad Marchand scored a scoring chance in front of the Oiler’s net to break the game’s innocence in just 54 seconds. Not long after, the two teams traded strong playback opportunities, but neither side made any concessions. The Panthers even got extra chances in Man Advantage but still couldn’t convert. In the middle of the first phase, the total number of shots was 9-8 towards the Oilers.
The second half of the first phase was traded back and forth with two teams, and the offenses of these two teams rarely appeared, especially considering how the other two first phases were performed between the two teams in this series. At the end of the first phase, Carter Verhaeghe turned in the Panthers’ power match, bringing the score line to 2-0; the total shooting count still favors the oiler, 12-10.
Phase 2
The Oilers started the second stage in the power play. At the end of the first phase, Anton Lundell was sent to the boxing ring for the rear wheel Knight antics. The Oilers eventually found the advantage of the guys offered by Corey Perry, thus cutting the Panthers 2-1 off the Nets. A few minutes later, the Panthers answered, and the Panthers answered. Sam Reinhart found the back of the network for the first time since round 2 to give the Panthers a 3-1 lead.

Stage 3
The Panthers started the third quarter this time, but were unable to take advantage of the human advantage. Shortly after the penalty kick that killed the Panthers, Skinner pushed the puck out of the glass after the crease and played behind the net, giving the Panthers another chance. Aaron Ekblad switched with a man to put the Panthers ahead 5-1. Skinner was immediately pulled to end his above-mentioned fall back to Earth. Calvin Pickard, the backup networker, took his place in the Oilers’ crease.

After several battles, chaos and post-hit antics, the Panthers returned to the power midway through the last frame, but failed in transition. After more post-match antics in the rear-round, Evander Kane had 10 minutes of misconduct as he hit the knocked down Verhaeghe with a stick while Evan Rodrigues’ powerful goal hit the score 6-1, with the Panthers winning two games from the second straight Stanley Cup.
