Parker can sign “unique” PL star at Burnley’s next Barnes

Burnley will play football again next season after finishing second in the championship game to secure a major period of promotion.

The fuchsia finished with a staggering 100 points in the second floor, somehow ranked second with Leeds United, and is now preparing to build a squad that can avoid immediate relegation from top flights.

Scott Parker will need to make some big tough decisions about the players who will leave Turf Moore and the players who will come in, and one future star is currently uncertain about Ashley Barnes.

The veteran striker signed the club from Norwich City in January’s transfer window and gave the deal to paper at the end of the season, meaning his current contract will end next month.

Parker was asked when speaking ahead of the final game of the season if he had made a decision on the forward: “No, no.

“We haven’t really discussed in detail next year, or sure how it looks in terms of the players’ contract. We have another game, which is the main focus.

“But Ashley Barnes has been incredible since she came in and has a chance on weekends, depending on my decision.”

There has been no official confirmation of his release or new contract in the weeks since these comments, but his limited impact on the stadium could mean they are looking elsewhere ahead of the Premier League season.

Barnes ended the campaign with one goal in 21 games, including two championship games, with the Triumph clan tied to a striker who could be the next version of veteran forward George Hirst.

Barnes joined Brighton’s Clarets at the age of 25, who has played in the first league and the championship low league and has scored 42 goals for the club in 200 Premier League matches.

Like Burnley’s idol, Hirst is working on the EFL. At 25/26 this season, he tasted the regular top football game for the first time, played in the leagues between Portsmouth and Ipswich, and played with Blackburn Rovers and the Tractor Boys.

As you can see in the table above, Hurst’s form for Ipswich in the Premier League this season is more impressive than Barnes’ final outing in the top game in the 2021/22 campaign.

These statistics also suggest that Kieran McKenna, described as a “unique” striker, has physical properties, is a style of Burnley, especially the force he won Flick Ons in the air and competes with opposition defenders.

Hirst scored three goals in 2.13 xg, and it’s possible that he combines physical and technical attributes to become an effective center at the Premier League level if he could start in a regular few minutes as he had only 24 minutes in Liam Delap’s game.
