Paul George provided an explanation for his recent decision to put the podcast in the interruption after the Philadelphia 76ers lost for the ninth straight Wednesday night, after the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden fell 110-105. George reportedly wanted to shift the focus to “trying to get this team together.”
“It’s more important to focus on here,” George said. George scored 25 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists against the Knicks in 42 minutes. “I’m not the healthiest, so it’s just to keep my body as healthy as possible and to keep it clearly here and trying to reverse the point of things here, and the whole point is trying to get this team together.
“But we have to give ourselves a chance. Going in one game at a time, but we have to give ourselves a chance to see what we can do.”

Wednesday’s losses were a step towards the right team morale compared to what the Chicago Bulls dropped on Monday in Philadelphia, where the Sixers were lagging as much as 50 points behind.
George released his last episode of Podcast P with Paul George that morning. After that game, George said the Sixers “have no sign of showing a team. We just don’t have the habit, or the team that competes for the playoffs doesn’t. … It’s a bit far-fetched now to be honest.”

Maybe the Sixers could have a better season if George signed a four-year, $212 million deal with the team in the offseason. Even then, the harm is another factor. George’s 25 points in New York was the most since he won 30 times against the Cleveland Cavaliers on January 24.

The Sixers are still ranked sixth in the NBA draft lottery since the Brooklyn Nets lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder, in the 10th and final game of the Eastern Conference in 2.5 games for the Chicago Bulls.
