Springfield, Massachusetts …American Hockey League announced today Lehigh Valley Phantoms forward Ole Lexel has been selected as Howies Hockey Video/AHL Player of the Week For the period ending December 22, 2024.
Lexel had four goals, two assists and a +6 rating in two games with the Phantoms last week.
Lexel had an assist and then scored the game-winning goal in overtime on Wednesday night, helping Lehigh Valley fight back from two goals down in the third period to beat Providence 4-3. . Then on Friday, he notched his second career AHL hat trick in the Phantoms' 7-2 win over Toronto, scoring three goals in 8 minutes, 03 seconds. Lexel was recalled after Friday's game and made his NHL season debut on Saturday, scoring three goals in Philadelphia's 5-4 overtime win over Columbus.
Lexel appeared in 25 games for Lehigh Valley this season, leading the Phantoms with 15 assists and 24 points and ranking first in the league with 103 shots on goal. Selected by Philadelphia in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Draft, he was born in Oskarshavn, Sweden. In three seasons with the Phantoms, he contributed a total of 42 goals and 66 assists in 116 games and scored 108 points. He also had one goal and five assists in 27 NHL games with the Flyers.
