Erin, Wisconsin – We are (almost) halfway through (almost) the opening of American women, with Lim Kim and Nelly Korda Mai Saigo highlighting the top of the rankings. The big champions cannot be won on Friday, but may be lost. For those who missed the Erin Hills layoffs, their hopes of lifting the trophy have been dashed.
We had some weather on Erin Hills Friday night so the cutout won’t be formal Made until Saturday morning. However, with the second round of the majority of the fields over, we have a good idea of where the cut is.
With the first 60 and tie blending over the weekend, it looks like the cuts will take place on one or two ends. We won’t officially know that the cut line will drop on Saturday morning, but we can say for sure that none of the three or worse people will show up on the weekend.
Check it out below for a list of seven big names who will miss Erin Hills’ weekend.
Lexi Thompson
What she photographed: 73-74 (+3)
Thompson announced her “retirement” (or partial retirement) at the U.S. Women’s Open last summer because she said goodbye to the USGA champion. But after doing well in limited competitions this spring, she qualified in the field based on Rolex rankings. Still, her week at Erin Hills will be shortened as she posted 36 holes and three holes.
Jennifer Kupcho
What she photographed: 76-71 (+3)
Kupcho put himself behind eight goals with 76 points and over 76 in the first round and it turned out that the hole was too deep to dig out. She played golf on Friday and posted a round under par, but she won’t show up on the weekend after Thursday’s struggle.

What she photographed: 69-78 (+3)
The runner-up of the 2021 US Women’s Open is in the championship after scoring 69 in the first round with 69 shots in the first round, but her second round was an unlimited disaster. She had eight bogeys and only two birdies, and she posted six points over 78 times, shortening a week.
Jeeno Thitikul
What she photographed: 75-72 (+3)
Jeeno Thitikul’s strange case continues. Although Thitikul is the undisputed second best player in the world (after Nelly Korda), he has never been able to figure out how to win the profession. At 22, she had enough time to knock out one, but now she is still the best player to never win a professional.
Leona Maguire
What she photographed: 76-72 (+4)
Maguire is a Solheim Cup stud, but the ability to compete does not translate into professionalism. It marks her fourth missed Grand Slam event in the last seven games.
Brooke Henderson
What she photographed: 75-75 (+6)
Henderson has won major titles twice, but the Usiver’s Open seems to have been confusing her. She only has three top ten in 13 games and has never been better than the T5. If she was to win this title, she would have to wait another year.
Lilia Vu
What she photographed: 80-82 (+18)
The performance of VU is perhaps the most surprising of anyone in the field. As a two-time main champion, she wins every time she proposes a victory. However, this week was not the case. In the 1980s, she beat only one player in the entire field.
