Rangers and Russell Martin got a transfer boost, with an experienced goal to move to Ibrox this summer.

Rangers line up more transfer targets after Cameron

Before the 2025/26 Scottish Premier League season, GERS’ transfer business is in progress, with midfielder Lyall Cameron becoming the first official signing in the Martin era.

A deal was reached in February before the 49ers took over and appointed Martin, but Cameron will be a key member of the new manager’s starting lineup.

Cameron said speaking to the Rangers’ official media after completing the operation: “It’s amazing to walk in the door, it’s really a privilege. I’ve been looking forward to it for a long time.

“When the Rangers came in, it was easy and I longed for it here. Obviously, it was a huge club with history and everything was amazing. From Scotland, I knew the club’s representatives, so I just wanted to take the opportunity.”

Starting with Cameron, the Wanderers now seem to be shifting their focus to the defensive type, with Bournemouth right-back Max Aarons being targeted at Ibrox.

The player Martin, who has been very familiar with since his job in England, actually in the second half of the 24/25 sports loan on Valencia, seems to have left over for the Vitality Stadium.

The Wanderers contacted via loan relocation, however, Bournemouth prefers the defender who spent £7m for them to exit permanently.

Another goal behind is Leicester City central defender Conor Coady. There was also a method for experienced centre-backs, where the Wanderers were “very keen” to sign the Foxes.

Leicester has also opened to the sale of Coady after being relegated from the Premier League, and another promising development toward Scotland has emerged.

Coady is the personal target of Martin and new athletic director Kevin Thelwell, who works with the 32-year-old Wolves and Everton, according to Rangers’ comments.

Cody “had aspired to move to Ibrox-making the initial connection and explored last summer”. It was a push for Martin and the Rangers Chiefs, and Cody once valued £38m during her time with Wolves and could sign a shrewd sign.

With the still contract at King Power Stadium, England International will be charged a transfer fee and “can still be dragged into next month”.

If the Wanderers get their men in Coady, they will get an experienced centre-back who is praised by former Everton teammate Abdoulaye Doucoure.

“He will help us a lot this season. I’ve been against him all the time and he’s a great role and very consistent. We’re so happy to have him on our team – he’s the leader.”
