Ranking of 11 European greatest matches against Arsenal after eliminating Real Madrid

Arsenal is preparing for its first Champions League semi-final since 2009 after defeating defending European champion Real Madrid.

The Gunners led 3-0 in the first leg and won a 2-1 sensation at Bernabeu after a late title from Gabriel Martinelli.

Their reward is a match against Paris Saint-Germain, where the winner will head to Munich to face Barcelona or Inter.

Over the past week or so, Arsenal has added their memorable European night to their famous list, and their first victory over Los Blancos is arguably the greatest night ever at the Emirates Stadium.

It’s strange to rank so low on this list, but for 55 years, Arsenal has beaten Anderlecht in the Inter Cities Fairs Cup to secure their first European trophy, which is worth mentioning anyway.

Ray Kennedy lowered 3-1 in Belgium’s comfort, and will make a comeback at Highbury.

Eddie Kelly rolled the ball in North London and won two goals from John Radford and Jon Sammels to the Gunners’ trophy in two minutes.

Bertie Mee’s team will continue to win the league and win twice the following season.

2023/24 Champions League, Article 16, Second Round

Arsenal has withdrawn from the Champions League before its long-awaited return in 2023/24, waiting for the quarter-finals, dating back to 2010.

So when they beat Porto 1-0 in the first leg, history looks like a repetition, with Arsenal’s last seven Champions League campaigns ending in the final 16th stage.

Leandro Trossard put the Mikel Arteta side in front at night, but no more goals were scored on a tense night in north London.

Thankfully, the Gunners undoubtedly escaped the wild celebration of Emirates from the rescue of first-leg hero Galeno from the scene.

Milan 0-2 Arsenal

2007/08 Champions League, 16 season round

Arsenal committed a clash in San Siro, facing European champion Milan but achieved one of its best results on the way to Europe.

The meaningless raffle draw on Emirates means the scoring draw is enough to get the Gunners to send the Gunners through extra time, but if anything, it looks like another 0-0 is on the way.

Six minutes later, CESC Fabregas picked up the ball in the center of the field and released the shot from 30 yards, somehow finding everyone’s corner, almost sealing it as an Arsenal result.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal came of age, when they competed against European champions at the Amirates Stadium, the second half blitz appeared to have tied out of their opponents.
