Brian Harman may have set up his return gear by modern tour standards, but the latest equipment in his bag jumps on a very popular tour trend.

In the first round of the Valero Open in Texas, Harman added Taylor Meard’s Spider 5K-ZT prototype to the bag and paid the dividend immediately.

Harman entered Week 145’s stroke: Participated with his gamer Taylormade Spider OS CB, the putter originally released in 2016.

“I’ve always loved the larger high-speed face balance putter for some reason,” Harman told Golf last year. “There hasn’t changed much in the past few years and I can’t see that change anytime soon. It can do the job.”

Well, Harman made a huge change to the Spider 5K-ZT (ZT stands for Zero Torque), which has been leaping with the popular zero torque trend over the past few years. Taylormade’s entry was built on Spider Platform, the most winning putter on the PGA Tour last season.

While Taylormade remains quite nervous about the new design, Harman enters the new model, partly because of a more upright angle of lies.

A Taylormade spokesman told Golf: “Harman’s bias is a slight right target aiming target, pushing him back online, and ZT is “point and shoot” for him. It’s easier to line up and aim. His previous putt was at 67°, so ZT is more upright and helping him to stand up a more upright line.”

Harman said Sunday that putters helped release the stroke.

“I looked at the stats from last year, and it was probably the best iron game of my career, the green approach, and probably the worst year for me for 10 to 20 feet,” he said Sunday. “So, it’s still very good inside the 10 feet, but that part has all the looks I did and I didn’t do anything. I just came up with the idea of ​​switching putts for a while. I picked that one on Tuesday and it felt really good, it rolled nice, it rolled nice, it kind of freed me a little bit.”

With a new wand, Harman finished sixth in the stroke: Put in, and scored more than 5.3 on the court on his fourth PGA Tour. While it’s hard to expect changes in next week’s Grand Slam, it’s no surprise to see players pouring into Taylor Mad trying out the latest spider in Port Town for two weeks.

The rest of Harman’s bag is made up of clubs, mostly four years old or older. Harman still plays the 2017 Titleist Pro V1 golf ball, the first golf he tried when he returned to the main Titleist Gear Setup, which was because he appeared in 2018 when he competed in the first Zurich Classic Team Tournament in 2018 with Johnson Wagner.
