Hugo Sanchez’s support brought Los Blancos a chance to fight, and they didn’t disappoint them in front of their supporters.
Emilio Buttragueno’s opener rolled the ball, and then a second half header from Manolo Sanchis gave Madrid the slimest lead.
Madrid persisted in winning another comeback victory, but they were defeated by Bayern Munich in the semifinals.

A year later, Real Madrid retaliated against the Bavarians, even after putting Germany in a seemingly safe 3-0 lead.
Los Blancos didn’t get into the scoring slice until the 85th minute after the Bayern defensive party’s giveaway Buttragueno, which looked like a valuable comfort.
Real Madrid then cut the deficit by half through Sanchez, allowing them to do their jobs on the ground.
Milan Jankovic and Michel’s goals were enough to see Madrid to the last four, showing once again that the Bernabeu’s return leg was worth worrying.

There are also quite a lot of Madrid making a comeback in the modern era. Although Real Madrid’s recovery in the 2014 finals did not come from a huge deficit, it was still a game and they were a moment of failure.
Diego Godin’s goal seems to have put the La Liga title in a title that will win the first Champions League victory, but Sergio Ramos’ header adds extra time in depth.

Wolfsburg had a chance to seal it on its own, but Ronaldo’s third time – the passenger’s free kick – returned to victory.
