Referee Neoit Millot said Lyon owner Paulo Fonseca tried to drive him in Sunday’s game against Brest.
Fonseca contacted the officer in anger, while VAR was studying Brest’s claim for fines, thrusting his head towards Millot’s touchline.
No spots were given, but Vonneka had lost control and was properly sent away. According to France, he can now face a seven-month ban on touchlines, allegedly violating Article 8 of the Ligue 1 Code of Discipline related to “intimidation or threatening behavior.”
Fonseca’s aggression surprised the referee
The Portuguese may have been approved by his club, and apologized afterwards, but Milot admitted he was shocked by Fonseca’s aggressive approach.

The official told L’Equipe: “He jumped up at me with a daunting attitude and I decided to send him straight away. It continued to get out of control.
“In fact, his attitude was even more intense, trying to cause a blow. Head-bump. I didn’t even have time to announce the final decision, which turned out to be no fine. To be precise, the nose seemed to have some contact.”
Fonseca follows Longoria into the dock
Fonseca’s move was hit by a 15-game ban in the wake of Marseille President Pablo Longoria to post his comments on referee Jeremy Stinat.
Longoria opposes the appointment of Marseille against Auxerre, who lost 3-0, blamed “real corruption” after defender Derek Cornelius was distributed.
