Rickie Fowler and Dustin Johnson received special invitation to the 2025 PGA Championship

The field of the 2025 PGA Championship held at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina is preparing for it.
The U.S. PGA announced the field on Tuesday, and some notable names received special invitations after they failed to meet the eligibility criteria.
Young Liv golfers Tom McKibbin and David Puig were invited. As members of Liv Golf, Puig and McKibbin have limited opportunities, with the chance to get the official world golf ranking points, so they are not ranked in the top 100, which is the standard cutoff for eligibility. Joaquin Niemann invited the PGA Championship early; the Chilean also received a special invitation from the 2025 Masters.

In the announcement Tuesday, Dustin Johnson’s immunity expired this year on Tuesday’s 2020 Masters victory, with a famous LIV name in Tuesday’s announcement. Johnson is ranked 751st in OWGR and has only two top ten since joining LIV in 2022 (2022 Open and 2023 US Open).
Rickie Fowler was also invited.
Fowler is a member of the 2023 US Ryder Cup. All players who are members of the US and European Ryder Cup, as long as they stay in the top 100 in the world, they will be invited. Fowler, who is in the top 20 in nine PGA Tours this year, ranked 125th in the OWGR and has a place among his leading 13 players. Fowler was invited to the 2022 PGA Championship when he was ranked 146th in the world. He hasn’t missed the PGA title since 2010.
Fowler won his first professional PGA Tour title at Quail Hollow’s 2012 Wells Fargo Championship.

If the players have not been exempted, two attractions will be awarded to Truist Championship and Myrtle Beach Clashic winners this week. There will be 14 past champions in the field. Tiger Woods and John Daly are not among them. Woods is recovering from surgery to repair the ruptured Achilles tendon.
