Next is the spoon: Lexi Thompson and Rickie Fowler!
Lexi and Rickie are two of the most well-known faces in modern games, and together with me, they have a scoop of cookie dough and chocolate ice cream in Florida, respectively, discussing all golf balls. From the popularity of these two artificial games to Rickie’s iconic Walker Cup team and Lexi’s jump into Poppie’s pond, we’ve covered a a lot of Ground during interview.
Lexi and Rickie have known each other for over 15 years in partnership with PUMA, so I’m happy to ask them about each other’s game. I mean, they’ve obviously seen a lot, especially as partners at the Grant Thornton Invitational! So it’s no surprise that each other gets highly praised when asked which part of the game the other party wants to have.
“I like watching his game because it looks so free, so relaxed,” Lexi said. “It seems he hasn’t thought of anything, it’s just a natural primitive talent. Every time I look at him, I feel like he just stands up and hits it. He imagines thinking about the shots he wants to play, just working on it. I’ve never really seen him being too frustrated. It’s great to watch his game.”
Rickie appreciates his Puma athlete.
“I feel like she’s there, fearless,” he said. “She just wants to do it. Obviously, she won a lot of times and sometimes it didn’t work, she, pardoned me in French, but she turned to her for help. I think some of her work ethics are something I might benefit from.”
You have it. If the best people in the world can learn from each other’s games, then you and I can definitely do it, too.
Being able to watch professional players like Rickie and Lexi compete is what makes Grant Thornton a special game and knows how respect they have for each other’s game, which makes this the perfect golf pairing.
So grab a scoop of ice cream (or two cups), settle in, join Rickie Fowler and Lexi Thompson for the latest episode of Scoop! I think you will like it.
