Julian Alvarez

Julian Alvarez’s agent has sparked speculation about Atletico Madrid by admitting that “not many Argentines don’t feel about Barcelona”.

Alvarez enjoyed a productive first season at Atletico after joining from Manchester City, scoring 29 goals in all competitions as Diego Simeone’s men finished third in La Liga.

Rumors are said the 25-year-old is Barcelona’s wish list as they seek successor to Robert Lewandowski, whose representative Fernando Hidalgo, has barely called for a move to Catalonia.

Hidalgo told Solo Para Cules podcast on El Chiringuito: “I know them [Atleti] Having received many calls, but always from the case of discussions with the club’s inheritance structure, it is Atlético’s position in this market that Julián stays for the next season.

“You already know Julián’s admiration for the Spanish club. Obviously, since he was a boy, he has been in Leo Messi’s career…I don’t think there are many Argentinians who don’t have any feelings for Barcelona.”

Cobals praises Alvarez

Barcelona finished twice the league and cup last season and received a lot of praise for their style of playing under Hansi Flick.

Hidalgo said it left a deep impression on Alvarez.

In March, Cubarsi was asked which player he wanted to meet at Barcelona and checked Alvarez by name.

Hidalgo added: “It’s not just Barcelona’s performance this season, Julian is very grateful to many of the players who have given him very well, such as Cobarsí.

“It motivates him, but I repeat that today is Atlético and he’s happy here. We’ll see the way of negotiations. You’re very clear that football is very changeable and good things will come.”

Alvarez is currently performing international duties in Argentina and is expected to compete in Chile tonight in Santiago.
