Rory McIlroy recorded a clubhead speed of 126.2 mph and a ball speed of 187 mph with his driver after a brief warm-up.

Then there's club head speed of 126 mph and ball speed of 187.8 mph.

Then came 126.7 mph and 189.8 mph.

Then 127.2 mph and 185.9 mph.

Then came 126.6 mph and 188.3 mph.

Then came 127.4 mph and 191.1 mph.

Later, a voice asked, perhaps a little jealously: Has it ever gotten boring?

“No,” McIlroy said.

“So you're trying to figure it out? You're trying to feel your lower body,” Horvath asked.

McIlroy said: “…There are different ways. People say you take your left knee out of the way. Or like Tiger [Woods] Chang said, break his left knee. But it's basically just trying to be as clear and open as possible at impact. Then your upper body will shoot up like a slingshot.

McIlroy says in the video that when you're trying to increase your swing speed, ignore the target.

And work on increasing your swing speed.

“For me, when I unlock a little bit more speed,” he said, “I'll take a swing on the range and if I miss, I don't care. I miss range. And then you can take it from there. It brings. But if we only focus on speed…”

Horvat said he thought he was trying to make a “golf swing” in his own way.

“Try to move things as fast as you can,” McIlroy says in the video. “That's all you want to do here. … Don't even think about the goal. … Try to move that club as fast as you can. Don't even think about the ball. Move that thing as fast as you can.
