Elena Rybakina Today I accepted questions from the media, and naturally most of them were about her coaching situation. The world number six shocked the tennis world by announcing she would bring back former coach Stefano Vukov to her team, despite hiring Goran Ivanise late last year Her coach, Goran Ivanisevic, provided some clarity into the precarious situation.
Rybakina will face Emerson Jones in her first match in Melbourne and admits the situation is far from ideal. Vukov is currently serving a temporary suspension from the tour and has not yet qualified for the Australian Open.

“This is definitely not an ideal situation,” she said. “Like I said, I'm not happy with the whole situation. Especially when there are some coaches who are making some comments, people who don't know much about the tennis world just see those comments and they pick it up and say Here comes more performances.
“I don't think it's fair. My goal here is to focus on the game. That's what I'm going to do.”
Rybakina clarified her current situation, stating that Ivanisevic will travel to Melbourne with her and suggesting that rumors that Ivanisevic was blindsided by the news that Vukov would rejoin the team were not true.
“We are here, we are working, and yes, it is him,” she said, adding: “As I have already said, I will not talk about it anymore because the situation on the WTA Tour is unclear. “
Rybakina believed Pam Shriver's comments about the nature of her relationship with Vukoff were unfair and said she had never spoken to the American.
It’s a topic closely associated with the legend. Shriver first went public with her inappropriate relationship with her former coach in 2023, when she was just 17 years old.
“I don't know her personally,” Rybakina said of Shriver. “She never came to me. She never talked to me. I know her story. It's sad, but that doesn't mean other players are facing the same problem. She doesn't know me. I don't Knowing her. I don't think it's fair to make a comment like that, especially as an active coach, commentator, journalist, etc.
